Who gets hair extensions? Hair extensions may seem like a relatively new concept, but in fact have been around since the ancient Egyptians when both man and women used them to enhance their own hair. A few years back hair extensions were the domain of rich and famous, celebrities and the well off were the main clients for the few exclusive salons that offered this service, the general girl on the street just could not afford the prices. Today, hair extensions are no longer just for celebrities. The mystery behind the whole hair extension industry has been removed, and with such growing demand the prices have become far more accessible Because of the increased demand for extension services, many stylists have received training to attach/remove extensions, and women have become more independent and knowledgeable about the process. This is an exciting time for women as we have seen revolutionary changes recently in application of hair extensions, so the hair extension industry has expanded to include many different methods of attachment. At Ahead of hair we would always recommend you speak to a professional on the subject of your hair type and which product would be best suited to your needs, especially if you are new to extensions. Hair which is shorter than 4” is hard to apply extensions to as the bonds invariably show and strands tend to stick out rather than lay downwards, therefore its best to allow hair to grow to at least 4-5 inches. Our hair is 100% Remy hair, many hair extension companies’s claim to sell 100% Remy hair, but if the price is unbelievably cheap you can rest assured it’s not Remy. Remy hair should feel soft to the touch and cool, Whatever type of extension you are interested in, Remy hair is a must, it behaves like your own hair as much as is possible because the cuticle ends are all laying correctly, non Remy hair often tangles and mats quickly. Micro loop or Pre tipped? Micro loop is a great, relatively new system, which avoid the need for heat and glue completely. *Great for short to medium term wear. * Those wanting to avoid glue and heat applications. *Reusable. *Easy to apply Micro Loop is the smallest and most undetectable Hair Extensions technique available, which combines fine strands of your natural hair with the extension hair. There is no glue, no heat, just luscious locks, so simple to apply, and there is no damage to your own hair. Micro Ring extensions should last up to three months before needing to be removed/reinstalled/tightened. We only stock 0.5 gram strands as loading the hair up with too much weight puts pressure on your own hair. The Micro Ring installation and removal system is one of the easiest hair extension systems available on the market. This technique can be done on all types of hair. The rings come in different colours of metal and are covered with plastic (colour determined by hair colour) which provides a comfortable cushion for hair. The rings clamp securely in place and will not slip out even during the most challenging of activities. Those who have worn micro ring extensions attest that they are comfortable day-to-day and the hair stays in place until you remove it! Pre bonded keratin nail tip Nail Tip Hair Extensions are pre-glued pre tipped hair extensions are easy to apply since the glue is already in place. At the end of the hair is a protein tip shaped like a fingertip. You melt the glue with the fusing tool. Save time by not having to do any cutting or weft removing. Shedding is almost eliminated as every piece has glue on it. Glue section is much smaller and lays flatter. Less glue means less breakage and tension. At Ahead of hair we generally stock strands which are 0.5 gram in weight; we have found this is less likely to lead to breakage of your own hair, as your hair is not loaded with an extension which weighs more than your own hair.
